STUDENT MESSAGES

For Use Through November 28, 2015

OFFICIALS OFTEN DON’T GET THE THANKS THAT THEY DESERVE. THEY ARE MORE OFTEN CRITICIZED AND YELLED AT. WITHOUT THESE OFFICIALS, WE COULD NOT HAVE MANY SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. THEY NOT ONLY MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE GAME, BUT ALSO SECURE THE SAFETY OF THE STUDENTS. THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE AN OFFICIAL, JOSH PAYNE, A RECENT GRADUATE FROM LYNDON HIGH SCHOOL, ASKS TO GIVE THEM THE THANKS THEY DESERVE.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.

For Use Through November 28, 2015

“GAMES GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO EXCEL AND IF YOU ARE PLAYING IN GOOD COMPANY, YOU DON’T MIND IF YOU LOSE BECAUSE YOU HAD THE ENJOYMENT OF THE COMPANY DURING THE COURSE OF THE GAME.” EMILY SCHWANT, A SENIOR AT MISSION VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL IN ESKRIDGE, KS, THINKS THAT THIS IS A GREAT QUOTE THAT ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD LIVE BY. COMPETITORS BEING POLITE AND SHOWING NOT ONLY OPPONENTS, BUT EVERYONE RESPECT MAKES THE GAME A LOT MORE ENJOYABLE TO PLAY AND WATCH. SPORTSMANSHIP MAKES THE GAME FUN, EVEN IF YOU ARE LOSING.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.

For Use Through November 28, 2015

BEING A PART OF A SMALL SCHOOL, BAILEY REISWIG, A RECENT GRADUATE FROM FLINTHILLS HIGH SCHOOL IN ROSALIA, KS, ENJOYED PARTICIPATING IN EVERYTHING FROM DRAMA TO BASKETBALL, SCHOLAR’S BOWL TO VOLLEYBALL. TEAMWORK WAS A BIG DEAL FOR HER TEAMS AS WAS THE GREAT COMMUNITY BACKING. NO MATTER WHAT THE SCHOOL SIZE, REMEMBER TO BE A RESPECFUL FAN WHEN WATCHING THE GAMES. PLAYERS, COACHES AND OFFICALS ARE TRYING THEIR BEST.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.

For Use Through November 28, 2015

COLSON REAMES, A SENIOR FROM BELOIT HIGH SCHOOL, SAYS THAT LEADERSHIP IS A QUALITY MANY PEOPLE DON’T HAVE. SPORTS HELP STUDENTS BECOME GREAT LEADERS ON AND OFF THE FIELD. WHEN YOU BECOME A SENIOR, COACHES WILL DEMAND MORE OUT OF YOU. SENIORS ARE HELD MORE ACCOUNTABLE THAN OTHER CLASSES. THEY ARE THE PRIMARY LEADERS FOR THAT YEAR. IF YOU HAVE GOOD LEADERSHIP, YOUR TEAM WILL DO WELL IN WHATEVER SPORT OR ACTIVITY YOU ARE IN.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.

For Use Through November 28, 2015

IN THE OPINION OF PAIGE PEARSON, A RECENT GRADUATE FROM OSAGE CITY HIGH SCHOOL, LEADERSHIP IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITIES A YOUNG PERSON CAN HAVE. IT SHOWS DRIVE, AMBITION AND WILLINGNESS TO TAKE THE INITIATIVE. STUDENTS WHO ARE ACTIVE LEADERS WILL NO DOUBT EXCEL IN THE FUTURE, SO TAKE TIME TO APPRECIATE THE YOUNG LEADERS IN YOUR COMMUNITY AND ENCOURAGE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS IN LOCAL SCHOOLS.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.

For Use Through November 28, 2015

WALTER GOUDEAU, A SENIOR AT WICHITA SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL, SAYS TEAMWORK IS NO DOUBT ONE OF THE TOP KEYS OF THE GAME. YOU CAN’T MAKE IT VERY FAR IN YOUR SPORT WITHOUT THE HELP OF YOUR TEAMMATES. TEAMWORK MEANS NO SELFISHNESS AND GETTING THE WHOLE TEAM INVOLVED. AT THE END OF THE DAY, YOU ALL HAVE ONE GOAL. TEAMWORK SHOWS WHETHER YOU WILL BE A GOOD TEAM OR AN UNDISCIPLINED TEAM.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.

“YOU MUST MAKE A CHOICE TO TAKE A CHANCE OR YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER CHANGE,” IS A QUOTE THAT HAS SPECIAL MEANING TO TAYLOR WILLIAMS, A SENIOR AT PAOLA HIGH SCHOOL. HER CHALLENGE TO YOU IS TO WAKE UP, CHOOSE TO MAKE IT A GREAT DAY, AND TAKE THE CHANCE TO BETTER YOUR SCHOOL. THE JOB OF AN OFFICIAL IS VERY ESSENTIAL AND KEEPS OUR ACTIVITIES STRUCTURED, SAFE AND FUN. SOMETIMES BEING AN OFFICIAL CAN BE A TOUGH JOB. OFFICIALS HAVE TO WORK IN HIGH PRESSURE SETTINGS, BE FIT, WORK TOGETHER AND SOMETIMES TAKE A HIT FROM A ROUGE BALL OR A STUMBLING PLAYER. SCOTT HIRSCH, A RECENT GRADUATE FROM PERRY-LECOMPTON HIGH SCHOOL, ENCOURAGES LISTENERS TO TAKE THE TIME AND THANK AN OFFICAL THE NEXT TIME THEY GO TO A HIGH SCHOOL EVENT.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION AND THE STUDENT ADVISORY TEAM.
