KAY Klips
January 2012

Through the KAY Hat Day on January 27, students and staff of Great Bend High School raised $160 for Heifer International, an organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty. Heifer provides livestock and training in its care so that families will have a steady source of income and nutrition to help lift them out of poverty. GBHS students donated $1 each to wear their hats to school all day.

The Lincoln KAY Club spent much of January organizing Coaches vs. Cancer, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Activities scheduled throughout the month included: donations pledged by area businesses for each 3-point shot made by the Lincoln boys and girls basketball teams during one night of the Northern Plains League Tournament; classes wearing certain colors during tournament week to represent cancer awareness; and a pink-out at the Friday games. Lincoln KAY Club donated $888.60 to the American Cancer Society.
