Spirit Safety Meetings
Required - Summer & Fall 2009

7-12 Head Spirit Coaches/Advisors (cheer, dance and drill team) shall attend a mandatory meeting, intended to promote and provide fundamentals of the activity and participant safety, every other year or in the first year of their employment. All schools whose city's name begins with letters A-M will need to attend a safety meeting in 2009.
Spirit rules meetings will be conducted at KSHSAA Summer Cheer/Dance Conferences and Fall Spirit Spreader Clinics. Please check the list periodically for cancellations.

Spirit Coaches/Advisors shall complete a test with information provided and discussed at the spirit safety meeting.
Spirit Coaches/Advisors assuming positions after the scheduled meetings are concluded shall be required to complete a spirit safety test within a designated time period.
A spirit safety test of true/false questions will be sent to schools not attending a spirit safety meeting. The mandatory test will need to be completed within a designated time period. The graded test will be returned to the school's principal.
Schools failing to submit the mandatory spirit safety test will be listed in the Activities Journal and subject to a $25 penalty.
