Changes adopted by the KSHSAA Executive Board and published in the 2007-08
Debate, Speech & Drama Manual:
Medals will be awarded to all 2-Speaker debate teams who advance to octafinals competition,
but do not continue to quarter final competition at the KSHSAA 2-Speaker
Debate Championship Tournament.
For all rounds of the KSHSAA State 4-Speaker Tournament
the tabulation room will remain open to coaches who are not in the judging
pool.
The following formula shall be put in place to aid in the determination
of sites and team assignments for the KSHSAA 4-Speaker Regional Debate
Tournaments: (The numbers turned in on the due date for the Regional
4-Speaker Debate Entry Card will be utilized as the guideline to determine
sites and team assignments.)
- 22 or More Teams Competing in a Classification
- 4 Regional Sites Selected
- Top 2 teams from each site advances to State
- 17-21 Teams Competing in a Classification
- 3 Regional Sites Selected
- Top 3 teams from each site advances to State
- 16 or Fewer Teams Competing in a Classification
- 2 Regional Sites Selected
- Top 4 teams from each site advances to State
The Executive Board put the following question on the Fall Regional
Administrator Meeting Agenda: Should individual debaters be allowed
to compete at two (2) tournaments per year that begin between noon and
the normal end time of the school day?
