STEVE JABLONOWSKI—PRO, LAKE SHAWNEE GOLF COURSE, TOPEKA

Steve Jablonowski is a certified member of Professional Golfers Association of America and has a consulting management company First Tee Management Group, Inc. which develops golf course real estate sales, construction, renovation, review and analysis. He has coordinated and administered group instruction clinics and lesson programs. Jablonowski is on the USD #230 District Growth Committee and was nominated for Junior Golf Leader in 2001. He served as director of the Junior Boys Golf League (Arizona) in 1992-1993 and in January, 2004 was named the golf pro at Lake Shawnee Golf Course. Jablonowski will discuss golf course management for high school golfers and fundamentals of golf instruction (improving players abilities).


 
JIM KANE—PRO, EAGLE BEND GOLF COURSE, LAWRENCE

Jim Kane was selected to open and manage the newly developed public golf course in Lawrence. He has been a PGA member since 1991. Throughout his PGA apprenticeship he worked as an assistant at Twin Hills Golf & Country Club in Oklahoma City before moving back to his native San Francisco Bay Area where he was the assistant head golf professional at the famed Olympic Club. His background includes golf shop operations, golf education and the coordination of programs to increase rounds of golf, driving range revenues and instruction business. He has promoted and directed golf leagues, tournaments instructional clinics and junior golf events.
RON COMMONS—LAWRENCE HS, LAWRENCE

Coach Ron Commons has had 26 golf team state qualifiers with three of his players earning state medalists status in his 29 years as head coach. A graduate of Lawrence High, Commons went on to earn his MS from Pittsburg State University where he lettered in football. He has served as past chair of the Kansas Golf Coaches Association and served on the board of directors for the Lawrence Sports Corporation. Commons will discuss “golf, from beginning to end,” during his session August.
JEFF STROMGREN—WASHBURN RURAL HS, TOPEKA

Coach Jeff Stromgren is a 18-year veteran at coaching boys golf, 16 of those years included girls golf. He started the girls golf program at Washburn Rural in 1994, and since they have made appearances at state tournaments seven times in nine years. Stromgren will discuss practice drills and practice organization during his session this August.
STEVE CURRAN—GIRARD HS, GIRARD

Coach Curran will conduct the KCA Golf business meeting, keeping coaches up to date on proposals.
Curran has coached golf for 16 years, starting the program at Columbus before going to Girard. He earned his BS and MS degrees from Pittsburg State University, and teaches math along with his coaching responsibilities.
