Cross Country Announcements

ACT Test Date
This year the October 27, 2007 ACT test date conflicts with the State Cross Country Meet.  No changes to the state meet schedule will be made. Some regional host sites may choose to start their meets prior to 2:00 p.m. with KSHSAA approval.

2007 Race Distance
Girls classes will run a 4K (4000 meters) at regional and state meets.  Boys cross country races at regional and state will be 5000 meters for all classes.  Schools hosting invitational meets may choose to run different distances.

Middle School Cross Country
Schools offering middle school Cross Country teams are reminded that 7th and 8th graders may not run in high school competitions.  A high school meet manager may choose to have races for middle school students separate from the high school races.  KSHSAA Rule 34 states that no student shall participate in more than seven meets during a season.  The maximum distance by grade level shall be:  7th grade – One mile (1600 M); 8th grade – Two miles (3200 M).
