Uniform Information
Rule 3-6 states one visible manufacturer’s logo/trademark/reference or school logo/mascot is permitted on the pants, compression shorts, sweatbands and headbands and shall be limited to 2 ¼ square inches and shall not exceed 2 ¼ inches in any dimension on each item.  No visible manufacturer’s logo/trademark/reference is permitted on the jersey or undershirt.

The KSHSAA has been asked about the reference to shorts/pants only having one school logo.  Many shorts have school logos on each leg or the side insert of each leg.  Shorts/pants are permitted to have more than one school logo but may only have one manufacturer’s logo.  Compression shorts, sweatbands and headbands may only have one logo.

Socks – are not part of the uniform and may be whatever colors the coach permits.

White Uniforms – Beginning with the 2007-08 season Varsity home uniforms must be white.  Light colors are no longer permitted for Varsity teams, they may be worn at the sub-varsity level.

Headbands/Wristbands
If worn headbands/wristbands must:

  • Be unadorned. (except for a permissible logo)
  • Have only one visible manufacturer’s logo/trademark/reference OR a school logo/mascot.
  • Be the predominant color of the jersey or white.
  • Must be the same color for all players.
  • Must be worn as intended – sweatbands below the elbow.
  • Limited to only a single item on the head and/or on each wrist.

Uniform Issues

Rule 3-5-13 – A team jersey designed to be worn inside the pants/skirt shall be tucked inside the pants/skirt and the pants/skirt shall be above the hips and worn properly.  A player not conforming to this uniform policy shall be directed to leave the game.  A team member shall not remove the jersey and or pants/skirt in the visual confines of the playing area.
Rule 3-5-13 – A commemorative/memorial patch not to exceed four square inches may be worn on the jersey provided it is not a number and must be worn above the neckline or in the side insert.
Beginning with the 2007-08 season Varsity teams must wear white jerseys at home.  Schools in the process of replacing uniforms should keep this in mind if they currently do not have a white jersey.

Equipment Issues
The following items are ILLEGAL items and may not be worn:  Lance Armstrong bracelets, rubber bands on wrists or ankles, Hemp bracelets, shoes with blinking lights, hair beads, Logo/trademarks that exceed 2 ¼ inches.  One visible logo/trademark is permitted on pants, compression shorts, sweatbands and headband.  Socks and shoes are exempt from the logo/trademark restrictions.
Legal items include the Spinnahz model DADA shoe.  This particular shoe has a circular insert on the side resembling a hub cap.  The insert spins inside the plastic casing as you walk.  This is considered a legal shoe.  Scrunchies (used to control hair) must be one single color.  There may be no ribbons, they are considered adornment.  Rule 3-5-2
